DPRK state media reported that Cabinet Premier Choe Yong Rim visited the Sunchon Chemical Complex in South P’yo’ngan Province on 30 May (Wednesday). Also known as the Sunchon Vinalon Complex, it produces fertilizers, poly vinyl and was once was the country’s largest producer of vinalon. KCNA reports:
The complex associated with the leadership provided by the great persons of Mt. Paektu updated the methanol-producing process and other major processes and established a general production command system true to the behest of leader Kim Jong Il.
As a result, it laid a material and technological foundation for keeping the vinalon production going at a high rate.
The premier made the rounds of the carbide shop, spinning shop and other places of the complex. He appreciated the signal successes made by its workers in the project for updating the production processes true to the intention of the party.
He underlined the need to conduct the technical control over the carbide production process and manage equipment in a responsible manner and push forward the work to increase the production of basic chemical goods and their variety.
He, at the same time, underscored the need to energetically speed up the updating of equipment by making an effective use of the existing production foundation.
He called on the officials and workers to wind up the updating of vinalon production process as early as possible in hearty response to the slogan “Push back the frontiers of latest science and technology!” put up by the party and took measures for relevant units to substantially provide necessary raw and other materials.
He stressed the need for the complex to pay deep attention to the life of its workers and fulfil its duty in developing the country’s economy and improving the standard of people’s living true to the dear respected Kim Jong Un’s noble outlook on the people.
