Kim Jong Il visited a CPV cemetery and memorial in Hoechang County, South Pyongan, along with Jang Song Taek, Kim Jong Un and a group of KWP and KPA leadership. During his visit, KJI placed a wreath at the grave of Mao Zedong’s son, Mao Anying, who was killed during his participation in the Korean War. KCNA reported:
A guard of honor of the three services of the KPA and a guard of honor of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards lined up before the cemetery.
Amidst the wreath-laying music after the national anthems of China and the DPRK were played, Kim Jong Il together with the senior officials of the party and army who accompanied him laid wreaths before the grave of Mao Anying and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the CPV and paid silent tribute to the fallen fighters of the CPV.
Then he went round the grave of Mao Anying and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the CPV.
