DPRK and Vietnamese state media reported that a Korean Workers’ Party [KWP] delegation headed by KWP Secretary and International Department Director Kim Yong Il (Kim Yo’ng-il) met with Communist Party of Vietnam [CPV] Secretary and Politburo Member, Gen. Lê Hồng Anh on 13 June (Wednesday). Gen. Lê, who also serves as Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security, hosted a reception for Kim and the KWP delegation. According to KCNA, Gen. Lê said that “it was our hope that the exchange and cooperation between the two parties will steadily grow in various fields.” KCNA reports:
Le Hong Anh once again extended warm congratulations to the dear respected Kim Jong Un on his election as first secretary of the WPK at the Fourth Conference of the WPK.
Referring to the fact that the Korean people grandly celebrated the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, he continued:
We are pleased that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the two parties provided by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung have favorably developed.
The party, government and people of Vietnam always remember the material and moral support rendered by the party, government and people of the DPRK to the Vietnamese people in their struggle for the independence and reunification of the country and socialist construction in the past.
It is our hope that the exchange and cooperation between the two parties will steadily grow in various fields.
We wish the party and people of the DPRK greater successes in the building of a thriving socialist nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Un.
The party, government and people of Vietnam will stand on the side of the Korean people in the future, too.
Vietnam’s Party, State and people always attach importance to maintaining and developing traditional friendly relations with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The statement was made by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Le Hong Anh at a reception for Kim Yong II, alternative member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Korean Worker’s Party Central Committee.
Anh said the development of bilateral relations, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim II Sung, will contribute to the two peoples’ interests and for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
He expressed his belief that cooperation between the two Party Central Committees’ commissions for external affairs would help promote bilateral relations.
For his part, Kim Yong II affirmed his State and Party’s consistent policy to further strengthen relations with Vietnam.
Earlier on June 11, Hoang Binh Quan, head of the Communist Party of VN Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations held talks with Kim Yong II. The two sides discussed measures to strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The DPRK delegation also visited a number of economic and cultural establishments in Hanoi and Thai Binh province.-
