DPRK state media reported on 23 June (Saturday) that the country’s newly appointed ambassador to Italy presented his credentials to Italian President Giorgio Napolitano on 19 June in Rome. According to KCNA, President Napolitano told Kim “he was satisfied with the bilateral relations that have developed on good terms in the political, economic, cultural and other fields. Peace in Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula is an issue of great interest to the Italian government. . .hoping the DPRK would make positive efforts for the regional security in the future, too.” Previously director of the DPRK Foreign Ministry European Bureau, Kim Chun Guk was appointed ambassador to Italy on 18 May 2012 replacing Han Tae Song.
