DPRK state media reported on 17 September (Monday) that DPRK Cabinet Premier Choe Yong Rim toured the city of Hoeryo’ng on the DPRK-China border in North Hamgyo’ng Province and Raso’n (Rajin-So’nbong). Choe’s first visit was to Raso’n to learn about the economic zone’s ongoing development. He then moved on to Hoeryo’ng where KCNA reported that he “learned about in detail the long-term plan of the city which will be spruced up and looked round various places including Kim Jong Suk [Kim Cho’ng-suk] Teacher Training College.” Choe also visited visited a coal mine in the Jungbong area (Chongbong-nodongjagu), which is located near labor-training detention facilities. According to KCNA Choe met miners, visited their homes and then convened a “consultative meeting held on the spot underscored the need to discuss measures and ways for drastically increasing coal production.”
