DPRK state media reported on 14 October (Sunday) that DPRK Premier Choe Yong Rim visited a river excavation project in the Pot’ong River in central Pyongyang. Choe was briefed about ongoing dredging work being conducted by service members of the Korean People’s Army [KPA]. Choe “encouraged soldiers displaying the inexhaustible militancy of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu in the huge project for face-lifting the Pothong River in the same spirit as displayed when they finished the project for face-lifting the River Hapjang in a brief span of time,” according to KCNA. Choe also “underlined the need to thoroughly purify sewage and take good care of promenade and its vicinity as the River Pot’ong is turning into a river for the people and a river of prosperity thanks to the devoted efforts of the service personnel.”
At the end of his tour, Choe consulted with officials. KCNA reported that “discussions were made on the spot to ensure that the Cabinet and relevant units step up the work to organize transport, keep vehicles in full-capacity operation and carry away mud in a short span of time.”
