DPRK state media reported on 30 October (Tuesday) that the Czech Embassy in the DPRK, led by its ambassador Dusan Strauch, hosted a reception for the 94th anniversary of the birth of the Czechoslovak independent republic (28 October). KCNA reported that the reception was attended by DPRK Vice Foreign Minister Kung Sok Ung, Vice Chairman of the Education Commission Jon Kuk Man, Vice Chairman of the Korea Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries So Ho Won, other relevant DPRK officials and “diplomatic envoys of different countries and representatives of international organizations here.”
On 27 October (Friday) DPRK state media reported that Supreme People’s Assembly [SPA] Presidium President Kim Yong Nam sent a message to Czech President Václav Klaus for the 28 October holiday which “congratulated the president and the people of the Czech Republic and wished the friendly country prosperity.” On 27 October DPRK state media also reported that that DPRK Cabinet Premier Choe Yong Rim sent a message to Czech Prime Minister Petr Nečas which “wished him success in his responsible work for the economic development of the country.” A similar message was also sent by DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun to his counterpart Karel Schwarzenberg.
