DPRK state media reported on 11 December (Tuesday) that the fourth part of the documentary film We Will Hold the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il in High Esteem Down through Generations. The 90 minute fourth installment of the official documentary film series chronicling the death and funerary rites of Kim Jong Il during December 2011 is entitled The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Will Live Forever was released to mark the one-year anniversary since KJI’s death on 17 December 2011. According to KCNA “the film shows the historical scenes of the army and people of the DPRK who turned out to successfully carry out the cause of perpetuating the memory of the leader and the military-first (so’ngun) revolutionary cause under the leadership of the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, true to the firm pledge they made before the bier of Kim Jong Il.” KCNA also reports that the film “deals with scenes of Kim Jong Un who led the army and people during the historic days to eternally defend and glorify Kim Jong Il’s military-first (so’ngun) revolutionary cause while following the military-first (so’ngun) road covered by him all his life” and “stresses that as long as there is Kim Jong Un, the noble history of perpetuating the memory of the leader will go on and wishes of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il will be carried out on this land.”
Scenes shown early in the film depict what appears to be a meeting of the Korean Workers’ Party Political Bureau at which Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) announces KJI’s death to the senior leadership.
