DPRK state media reported that a stamp was released commemorating the 55th anniversary of the Worker-Peasant Red Guard [WPRG],  a 5.5 million member Korean Workers’ Party’s civilian armed force and a significant part of the DPRK’s reserve military units.  The WPRG anniversary was also marked with an editorial which said, according to KCNA:

The WPRG is revolutionary armed forces faithfully upholding the revolutionary cause of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the powerful forces for defending the country and building socialist construction.

The People’s Army stands in the forefront for defending the leader unto death and the WPRG in the flanks and depth.

If anyone dares hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK and has an axe to grind, he can never evade merciless punishment by the WPRG.

All the WPRG members are dynamically advancing toward the road of independence, So’ngun (Military-First) and socialism indicated by Generalissimos Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng) and Kim Jong Il(Kim Cho’ng-il), bearing in mind the validity and invincibility of the idea and cause of the DPRK as the immutable faith. They are reliably defending their provinces, counties and lands with ever-victorious military tactics and bold capacity for a real war.

It is the greatest pride of So’ngun (Military-First) Korea to have the revolutionary militia forces devotedly defending the cause of the party and the leader and demonstrating its might as the powerful militant ranks to defend the country and build a thriving country.

All the WPRG members should discharge their honorable mission and duty as revolutionary armed forces of the party in the efforts to defend the country and build a thriving nation with the invincible faith and ardent patriotism.
