Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited the Ku’msusan Palace of the Sun on April 15 (Friday) to mark the 104th birth anniversary of his grandfather, late DPRK president and founder Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng). Among those in attendance were Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So (Director of the KPA General Political Department), Vice Marshal Ri Myong Su (Chief of the KPA General Staff), General Pak Yong Sik (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), General Kim Won Hong (Minister of State Security), General Choe Pu Il (Minister of People’s Security), Colonel-General So Hong Chan (Vice Chief of the KPA General Staff), Lieutenant-General Jo Nam Jin (head of the KPA Organization Department and deputy director of the KPA General Political Department), Lieutenant-General Rim Kwang Il (Director of the General Staff Operations Bureau), Colonel-General Yun Tong Hyon (Vice Minister of the People’s Armed Forces) Vice Admiral Ri Yong Ju (Commander of the KPA Navy), General Choe Yong Ho (Commander of the KPA Air and Anti-Air Force), Lieutenant-General Han Kwang Sang (head of an NDC Department) and other members of the KPA high command and KPA command staff.
Kim Jong Un and members of the KPA high command, entered the room containing statues of Kim Il Sung and late DPRK leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) where a KPA honor guard placed floral baskets from Jong Un and the KPA. He bowed in front of the statues and they “paid high tribute.” They then entered the room where Kim Il Sung’s preserved remains lie in state and “paid homage” to him. After this they went through rooms containing various state titles, awards and honorary degrees that Kim Il Sung received, along with a room showing the late DPRK president’s railway carriage and car.
Jong Un and the other visitors then went into the room containing Kim Jong Il’s preserved remains where they “paid homage” to KJI. After this they went through halls containing various state titles, awards and honorary degrees that KJI received along with rooms showing KJI’s personal railway carriage, his S-class Mercedes Benz sedan, his boat and his electric mobility cart.
