Mushroom Farm Opens, Ceremony Held

An inaugural ceremony was held to open a mushroom farm on October 31, 2016 (Monday). In attendance were State Affairs Commission (SAC) Vice Chair and DPRK Premier Pak Pong Ju, Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Vice Chairman of Planning and Finance Kwak Pom Gi, and State Planing Commission (SPC) Chairman and DPRK Vice Premier Ro Tu Chol. Pak Pong Ju gave the inaugural speech. According to KCNA, he said “The farm is the fruition of the outlook on the people and leadership of the WPK which regards it as the supreme principle in its activities to improve the standard of the people’s living.” He also called for “working harder to turn the country into a socialist paradise where the dreams and ideals of the people come true under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.” Following the ceremony, participants “were briefed on the farm” and then toured it.

According to KCNA, “The farm has an integral production system and a perfect sci-tech dissemination system. It is a structure in the era of the Workers’ Party and another precious establishment greatly conducive to improving the standard of people’s living. The appearance of the farm with a high production capacity as a standard unit for the industrialization of the mushroom cultivation helped lay a foundation for supplying greater quantity of tasty and nutritious mushroom to the people.”
