The cargo ship Jaryok was launched at Ryongnam Dockyard in Namp’o on May 15 (Sunday).  Attending the launch ceremony were O Su Yong (Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Vice Chairman and Executive Policy Council member), Im Chol Ung (DPRK Vice Premier and WPK Political Bureau Alternate [candidate] Members), Kang Jong Gwan (Minister of Land and Marine Transport) and other WPK and DPRK officials.

Kang Jong Gwan and other ceremony speakers said that “launching of the ship was ascribable to the patriotic devotion of President Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng) and leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il) to the development of the nation’s shipping and the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un (Km Cho’ng-u’n) and it was an expression of the loyalty of the working people and officials in the field of maritime transport to the party who are determined to bring earlier the final victory of building a thriving socialist nation” and recalled that “Kim Jong Un showed such loving care as personally naming the cargo ship Jaryok built by workers, technicians and officials in the shipping field with their own efforts.  This loving care and trust of Kim Jong Un is associated with his intention to dynamically promote the development of the maritime industry in the spirit of self-reliance and self-development.”

Ceremony speakers called for “attaining the high goal for the development of maritime industry by displaying the revolutionary spirit and mettle of heroic Kim Il SungKim Jong Il working class in close unity around Kim Jong Un and dynamically fighting for the final victory of building a thriving socialist nation.”  After the speeches, a ceremonial tape was cut to launch the ship.
