DPRK, Russia Complete Agreement in aerial SAR

Following up on policy initiatives from Kim Jong Il’s August 2011 trip to the Russian Far East, a delegation of Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency [Rosaviatsia] visited Pyongyang during 12 to 14 December.  On 13 December (Tuesday) Rosaviatsia director Neradiko Alexandr signed an agreement on civilian air search and rescue between Russia and the DPRK.  KCNA reports:

Present at the signing ceremony from the DPRK side were Director Kang Ki Sop and other officials of the General Bureau of Civil Aviation of the DPRK and officials concerned and from the Russian side a delegation of the Russian Aerial Transport Administration led by Director Neradiko Alexandr and Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery Sukhinin.

Kang Ki Sop and Neradiko Alexandr inked the agreement.
